Turns out, there is no need [to follow you into the dark]. And by this "following", I have in mind Twitter and something that i noticed. The number of people I follow is terrifyingly low (12. and even out of those 12, two have become incredibly annoying so i put them under consideration. some de-friending may ensue). Anyway, it turns out, that's quite enough. Why? Well, I noticed a pattern of who those people regularly RT, mention in some other way, or link to (because, just as me, they limited the number of conversations they have with the people they really like. eh, whatcha gonna do). So I actually don't need to follow that second 'tier' of people; I just need to follow the first and will get all the info that everyone else is currently talking about. Which explains how to keep myself in the loop, but certainly does not explain how do I discover new things. And this is what I really care about. Bummer.
I hope one day someone will create an application that introduces randomness in my twitter feed, so every morning I can see stuff that I have never know existed but are exactly what I am interested in :) And while I have an idea how that tool should work on a filtering level I am totally clueless how to do any successful programming. Oh well.
