Cheers to our mutual friend Mr. Morrissey for pointing me to this very entertaining (and very true) post.

Most "futurists" have a batting average of 1 or 2 out of 100, but they can point that singular success over and over. Which is why I like your idea of "things we can look forward to."

Hey Alan, thanks for your comment. Yea, no idea why so many people feel obliged to make predictions in the new year's ... especially considering the predictions' success rate. Completely irrational behavior :)

and p.s. the idea of "things we can look forward to" is not mine, but Fred Wilson's. I just agree w it.

Um. I don't take the "dead" stuff seriously either. Hence the cartoon.

As for the copyright, I'm following Hugh's lead. he seems to know what he's doing.

Good point about the trends. While I made one "prediction" for Peter Kim's effort, I didn't do any on my own blog. Like the home taping graphic. :-)

Hi David, thanks for your comment. and happy new year! home taping graphic is from the early 80's -- can you believe it? the same wrong predictions that music industry tends to make with the each new technology.

What I find harder to understand is how seemingly impossible it is to transform the business mindset. It's apparently easier to make predictions than to evolve ...
